Overview
What is the Clamelle Chlamydia Test Kit?
The Clamelle Chlamydia Test Kit can be used to test for the sexually transmitted infection (STI) called Chlamydia trachomatis.
What is Chlamydia?
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by bacteria, which may be transmitted through unprotected sex. Chlamydia can affect both men and women and is known as a silent infection because it does not often present any symptoms (asymptomatic).
Who is at risk of Chlamydia?
Anyone sexually active. Factors that increase your risk of infection are:
- a new sexual partner
- more than one sexual partner in 12 months
- lack of consistent use of condoms
Aproximately 1 in 10 sexually active young people who take a Chlamydia test find they have got the Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) - Chlamydia
What symptoms would indicate that I have Chlamydia?
As most people (up to 70%) have no symptoms, a large number of cases go undiagonosed. Untreated Chlamydia may have serious long-term consequences, especially in women, including infertility. The type of symptoms that may indicate the presence of Chlamydia infection varies depending on if you are a man or a women. If symptoms are present these may include
For Men:
- Discharge from the penis
- Pain when passing urine
- Pain or swelling in the testicles
For women:
- Pain when passing urine
- Bleeding between periods
- Unusual vaginal discharge
- Bleeding after sex
- Pain when having sex
- Any unexpected pain below the belly button
If you do not have symptoms, the test kit is not suitable for you.
Please be advised:
FUECLINICS.com are unable to inform you of your Clamelle Chlamydia test results.
If you take the Clamelle Chlamydia Test, and receive a negative test result, it means that you do not have Chlamydia. To reduce the risk of getting or passing on Chlamydia and any other sexually transmitted infections in the future, you are advised to use a barrier method of contraception such as condoms.
As this test kit only checks for Chlamydia, if you are concerned about other STI's such as Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, and HIV, it would be advisable to visist a Gum clinic or local sexual health provider for a full sexual health screening.
To find details of these please refer to www.nhs.uk or www.fpa.org.
How to use Clamelle Chlamydia Test Kit?
Once you purchase/receive the Clamelle Chlamydia Test Kit, follow the instructions in the box and complete the test at home. The key steps are that you will need to collect a urine sample then fill out a test request form in the box. At the bottom of the test request form is a patient tear off slip (verification slip) that you need to retain. It is very important to keep this safe, as it will be needed to verify your test results and obtain treatment if necessary. You then need to return the test request form and urine sample in the prepaid package direct to Gordon Laboratory Group (GLG).
